There is no subject.
I want to go home. My mom's ginormous Christmas tree is up. Actually, it's only 11 feet this year. Dino thinks it's too small.
Plus it's been really foggy here for the last three days. This does not lend itself to me feeling good about life.
And today I just want to cry a little. Mostly frustration. What is it about plagiarism that is so appealing to English students? Anyone have ideas on what to do about this issue? I have at least six plagiarised papers. That's not good, folks.
I made cookies this week. They're good, but I'd rather be home.
Funny that I still think of my mom's home as home. Really, I should grow up soon.
A week from now, after a week of testing (but not for me, I'm not giving a final.) and packing and Ben being here for a visit, I'll be home. That sounds nice.
I wish you could all see how crooked our little Christmas tree is. It makes for good times.

I could see how crooked your little tree is. Maybe while Ben's here we could play games. I've been home less than 24 hours and I'm already lonely. Are you guys going to Messiah tonight?
It's funny, 'cause my parents' house is starting to seem less like home to me. I've been headed that direction on purpose, trying to learn how to be a grownup and all. It's sort of nice, but makes me want to be here less than before.
I hope things look up for you soon (I'm with you on the fog thing, I'm dreaming of a sunny Christmas).
Do your students understand how serious plagiarism is? I had a student this semester plagiarize and I gave her an F and a "See me," because she had been a really great student up until then. It turned out, she really didn't know that she was plagiarizing (because she listed the website she got the info from, but she didn't put quotes around the words). So we talked about it and she fixed it and I gave her a better grade. But usually, plagiarizing at UND means flunking the entire class.
So far, most of the students who have come to talk to me don't even seem to know exactly what plagiarism is. They're surprised that taking half their paper from a website and not citing it is plagiarism. Go figure. So I'm letting them redo and turn back in.
At a university near here, last year, two students were arrested for plagiarism. I told them that. They were surprised. I don't know, maybe it was just branded on my brain, but I never had any doubts about what plagiarism was and was not.
